Excursion to Tagebau
Posted on Sat, 06. March 2010 in Veranstaltungen
The International Students & Programs working group organizes an excursion to give you the chance to see an interesting landmark in the surrounding area of Aachen. We would like to take you to an open cast mine close to Aachen. Open cast mines are quite common in Germany, coal is mined there to generate electricity. Open cast mines are amazingly big holes in the landscape where incredibly huge excavators are working. We will get an introduction in form of a presentation at the information center, and afterwards a bus will take us through the open cast mine. The tour will be held in English.
This excursion is primarily directed to international students, but German students are welcome as well.
The event will take place on
Wed, March 24th, taking from approximately 12:30 – 18:30
The exact starting time and meeting point will be announced later on. We will take the train from Aachen to the mine. The tour itsself is free of charge, as well as the train ride if you have your Semesterticket with you. So, for those who have a Semesterticket the event is absolutely free!
We need you to send a mail to isp@fsmpi.rwth-aachen.de as soon as possible if you want to take part in the event. Please register only if you are sure that you can take part in the event, since we have to tell the number of participants to the company running the mine. The number of places is limited.
If you have any further questions, you’re welcome to send a mail to isp@fsmpi.rwth-aachen.de.
